Caller: "Good afternoon, sir, this is a federally mandated call. The government has commissioned a poll to establish the populace's opinions and tastes on several issues. The call should take no more than ten minutes. May I proceed at this time?"

Liam: "Sure, of course you can."

Caller: "Thank you, sir. First question, then. Of the three core subjects under consideration for addition to the national curriculum, which would get your vote? The History of Cartoons, Arrest Procedures - Your Role as the Arrestee, or, If women are from Venus & men are from Mars, why the heck do we have problems understanding the Taelons?"

Liam: "Uh... is this a trick question? Those can't really be the three subjects under selection. I don't think I want to answer this question."

Caller: "Thank you. Next... if, as the UN has proposed, national flags should be altered to recognise the world's involvement with the Taelon Race, what design do you think would be most appropriate for our national flag?"

Liam: "That's a tough one. As a race, the Taelons don't really have a symbolic representation for peace. Not like the olive branch or the white doves that we use. Maybe the UN need to give this idea some more thought."

Caller: "Should the government listen to the calls for a national memorial to the late Jonathan Doors?"

Liam: "Absolutely! He is much missed by those of us who knew him."

Caller: "National response to disaster appeals has fallen by twenty-eight percent. What suggestion would you give to both state and federal governments to encourage the public to dig in to their wallets?"

Liam: "Have they tried the puppy-dog eyes thing on a female face? You know, a few posters with a beautiful woman or little kids with a puppy-dog expression asking for help... the male population will turn to mush, I guarantee it. You could raise a lot of funds that way."

Caller: "What colour should be selected for the new commemorative money chip for the anniversary of the Taelon's arrival?"

Liam: "Silver."

Caller: "What is the most important literary work of the past fifty years?"

Liam: "I wouldn't exactly call it a literary work, but the Civil Rights Bill of President Kennedy's that LBJ got made law after Kennedy's assassination... that was a pretty important bunch of words."

Caller: "If you could be any vegetable at all, what one would you be?"

Liam: "Seriously?! I guess, a potato."

Caller: "If you were given the opportunity to travel in time, would you take it? What is your reasoning for your decision?"

Liam: "No. Done it. Didn't like it. Not doing it again."

Caller: "And finally, are you a dog or a cat person?"

Liam: "Cat."

Caller: "Thank you for taking the time to respond to our survey, sir."

Liam: "Don't mention it."

After the call disconnected, Street smiled. Sandoval and Kincaid shared a similarly warped view when it came to certain things. This opinion poll was turning out to be a lot more interesting than she had initially expected.
